I first started working on Grid Computing (more specifically, Peer-to-Peer Grid computing) when I did my licence/master thesis. Since then, I continued working on the topic:
- Together with a (teaching assistant, then colleague and friend and now only a) friend, we're programming a lightweight Grid middleware. It is written in Java and, unlike the not-so-well-named gLite, is aimed towards simplicity and ease of use. I'm mainly working on the network, data (including BitTorrent support) and deployment parts of the middleware.
- I have some publications.
- I'm trying to get some nodes up for the Belgian research Grid. However, I don't have access to dedicated hardware and running gLite in a virtual machine on a computer that should stay available to other users is no easy task.
